Size:
Shoulder height: 54 -
57 cm (21.25 - 22.5 inches). Labradors are relatively large
with males typically weighing 60 to 80 lb (27 to 36 kg) and
females 45 to 70 lb (23 to 32 kg). They are energetic,
outgoing dogs.
Coat:
Their coats are thick
and dense and weather-resistant or short and smooth, and can
be black, fawn or chocolate brown. A small white marking on
the chest is permissible.
Character:
This breed is obedient,
sociable, affectionate, and loyal. They have a very keen sense
of smell.
Temperament:
This dog gets along
well with children, other dogs, and any household pets. They
are not great watchdogs.
Care:
Brush the coat once a
week or twice weekly if the dog is shedding coat.
Training:
The Labrador Retriever
learns very quickly and loves to work for its handler.
Activity:
Although they will adapt to the exercise habits of your
family, Labrador Retrievers need plenty of exercise. They need
to be taken on long walks, and especially love to take part in
field sports.
Life
Span: Labrador
life expectancy is generally 12 to13 years, and it is a
healthy breed with relatively few major health problems.
